Save The Last Dance was an outstanding film which inspired many of my close friends and I to take up dancing. The meaning behind the story was a very strong one which everyone should take into perspective. If you believe in something, and want to do it then nothing and no-one should stand in your way, and that's the only the part of the film to do with dancing and ambitions. Derek and Sara love each other and want to have a relationship, but colour seems to be a problem. No-one thinks they should be together because of Sara's colour.Julia Stiles (Sara) is without a doubt outstanding in this film and really brings her character to life. Sean Patrick Thomas also does a great job and shows the huge compassion he has for dance throughout the film. Both have excellent talent and should do well in years to come. It is an inspiration to see Sara come to a new town where she is not easily accepted and being one of the very few white people living there, she shows great determination and follows her dreams. Compared to others, this film is the most memorable and the message which is given out stays with you for a long time after you have watched it. It is thought-provoking, inspiring and compassionate. The way the film is put together helps it come to life, and helps the viewers understand exactly what is happening in Sara's life at that particular time. Throughout the film viewers are constantly reminded of how Sara is really feeling. They use flashbacks of hard times in her life to show how she has been strong and determined through the roughest of times. The music and professional dancing are modern and the contrast between ballet and hip-hop is a perfect twist. It appeals to younger viewers aswell as older. Don't give Save the Last Dance a miss!!! Love Laura Graham and Lauren McGrellis xXxXxXxXx
