This movie is the story of Sara (Julia Stiles) who is a white girl living with her single mom in a small town. She has dreams of being a famous ballerina, but she looses hopes when her mother is killed on the way to her Juliard audition. Feeling incredibly guilty, she must move in with her father in a ghetto of a big city where her entire school is black except for about four other students. She is befriended by Chenile, whose older brother Derek (Sean Patrick Thomas) is a handsome, popular black student with a love for hip-hop and with high hopes of becoming a doctor. With the help of Derek and Chenile, Sara takes up dancing again, this time with a twist of modern hip-hop moves. She must overcome her fears to get into Juliard and fulfill her dreams.
This movie is awesome. There isn't too much that can be said except it is a great movie with wonderful actors and a great soundtrack! I got the movie about a year ago and I had rented it several times before. The movie is one of my all-time favorites! It should be known that the movie contains some sexual situations and violence and drug use, so I think children under 12 should probably not see this movie. If you have not seen it yet, you really should, it is a great movie. |
