A decent movie with its share of flaws

I thought that Endgame was an alright movie. The action sequences were certainly great to watch, even though I thought that the special sword "move" that Connor originally taught Duncan and that Duncan later was forced to execute to kill Connor was a bit laughable (if this move was unbeatable, how come we never saw Duncan or Connor use it in the previous movies or tv series?). The script wasn't the greatest, they could have done much better, but it was too corny or bad at all. The movie was definitely too short---I was really disappointed that it was practically the length of a Disney animated flick. They could have used an extra 30 mins to develop the storyline more. Also disappointing was their neglect of familiar characters from the series such as Dawson and Methos, characters who are really quite multi-dimensional. I would hope that IF another movie were to be made, these characters would be used.
I was actually glad to see Connor get the axe in this movie. Lambert's age is showing too much nowadays, and it was a fitting way for him to leave the franchise. I have never been found of his acting, either, and his Scottish accent downright sucks. Adrian Paul is simply better for the part of the lead character.
One last thing...why the heck does Duncan get hooked up with Kate at the end of the movie??? They have little chemistry, and Amanda is by far the best choice for Mac. |
