I've seen POTO 11 times on stage. It's one of my favorites. Saw the movie today. It's good. Worth seeing. I really appreciated the extras -- more info re: the Phantom's past. I especially enjoyed the ending -- ties it all together and takes the viewer full circle. Well done. (For that alone, it was worth seeing.) Performances: Phantom = B+. Don't expect Michael Crawford. Erase him from your mind and you'll enjoy it more.

What's missing? The magic of the stage. Also, Phantom is lacking a litle bit of passion and emotion. He's not as deformed or hideous as I would have liked him to be. However, all-in-all -- it's worth seeing. I liked it (didn't love it), and I'm a tough one to please. |
