I saw the very first teaser for this movie back last December as a preview for Lord Of the Rings: The Return of the King. Well one whole year has passed, my anticipation for this movie has came to its close and i finally got to see it this afternoon. As the day of its release neared i read all over the place from critics to fans who had seen it, criticizing it for not being as good as its original theatre production, so with that said let me say right now....
I SAW THIS MOVIE, NEVER SEEING ANY OTHER PREVIOUS FORM OF THIS PLAY, SO THIS WAS A NEW EXPERIENCE FOR ME. So this review is based on a newbie to this play, so if you are new to it, DONT read others reviews and read mine...
The Phantom is a big love story told through beautiful singing, excellent acting, and direction. We see excellent integrated scenes from the future that blend well with the movies progression. Light touches of comedy add into the brilliant music, drama, romance of this story. I wont put any spoilers into this so you can enjoy this masterpiece for yourself. From the get go i said to myself if this movie doesnt at least win academy awards for best cinematography, costumes, art direction, score, music, then the awards are rigged. Some of the best of all of those that i have seen in a movie. This is also on my top 5 musicals of all time for sure. Chicago was one of my favorites a few years ago, this actually topped Chicago.
So please, DO NOT listen to anyone else, do not listen to the critics, go enjoy this movie for yourself. This is one of the best of 2004 in my opinion |
