I love this movie. I think the movie is better than any stage version I've ever seen. The story is explained way better in the movie and the director makes things so much more clear.
Favorite moments?
1. Beginning when at the auction they raise the chandelier and the black and white turns into color and goes back in time as the Opera House is restored.
2. When Christine sings "Think of me" and as she turns she is transformed into a beautiful leading lady with the camera in back of her showing you the audience.
3. Christine in her room when the Phantom calls to her from behind the mirror. Totally cool scene.
4. Then, the journey down to the cavern as she is totally mesmerized by the Phantom......the moving hands holding the candles is a really cool affect. When they're on the boat and the candelabras start coming out of the water.
5. The rooftop scene is beautifully shot and ends with a nicely done Phantom threat of revenge as the camera pulls away into the sky. Really cool shot.
6. Masquerade is cool, especially the Phantom's entrance.
7. The cemetery scene is beautifully shot also. Christine always looks so beautiful in this movie. And Emmy Rossum just lights up the screen with her beauty and her beautiful voice. And her emotional edge, especially in the final scene below in the cavern is perfect.
8. The "Point of no return" song and scene on stage is filled with sexual tension.......you can cut it with a knife.
9. The Chandelier coming down is an awesome moment and visual.
10. The final scene in the cavern with Raoul, Christine and The Phantom is emotionally driven.......it really got to me. Well done by all involved.
