....and most of the truth.
Born just after WWII, my mother used to tell me how, in 1940, they would look up and see how "the sky was black with German planes." Many of these raids were over-flying London to bomb Coventry.
She used to tell me how they could see how the few English fighters were lining-up to attack the Germans - and how the people in the street cheered when the English scored successes.
Like so many other women, with my soldier father fighting in North Africa, my mother believed that every German plane shot down was keeping him safer.
This movie brings all those memories back. |
