These are some of the best arial scenes I've ever seen in a war flick. The rest of the story bounces around, doesn't always follow a pattern, is kind of haphazard.
You never really connect with any of the major characters, even though this movie has most of the major british stars of the 60's. The only exception is Michael Caine, who seems to hold the movie for a while.
There's almost a detached emotionlessness to the movie. Most of the characters don't exhibit that "stiff upper lip" the brits are famous for... |
