You gonna pass that dube? Why is this film being compared to American Pie? Apart from the fact that it is obviously a teen film it bares little resemblance to American Pie.
The story centers around Josh, a guy in a happy relationship with someone he has known all his life...however due to certain circumstances (possible spoiler) he ends up videotaping a sexual encounter with another girl at his college, which is accidentally mailed to his girlfriend.
After finding out, he and his friends EL and Rubin set off on an 1800 mile trip to intercept the tape. They also take along college nerd, and extreme weirdo (watch the film and you'll see what I mean), Kyle.
This film is packed with laughs and memorable moments. Indeed, like American Pie, there are a lot of sexual references, one of the funniest involving EL, a rubber glove and a sexy nurse. But the main storyline revolves around the relationship between Josh, Tiffany (his girlfriend) and Beth (the girl from the tape). Also, the storyline plugs the friendship between the guys and especially the eventual acceptance of Kyle.
Tom Green is amazing and hillarious in his role as whacked out Barry, and the incidents with the mice and the snake are extremely funny. Barry provides the audience with a form of comedy that is away from the main storyline.
This is one of those films that many people will come back to over and over. It should not be compared to American Pie as the plot is completely different, just because it is a teen movie does not make it that similar right?
I highly recommend this film to anybody who wants to sit down one night with some friends, bung on a video and laugh.
If you like this movie, I also recommend: American Pie 1 & 2, American Wedding, Super Troopers, Cruel Intentions and Scary Movie 1, 2 & 3. |
