Powerful Without Having To Do Much

When I first began watching You Can Count on Me, I thought that it would be another "cute" movie, a cookie-cutter, a movie that would be enjoyable, but then forgotten as soon as it was back in the box. Hardly. This movie has found a way to say a whole lot without saying hardly anything. The incredible dialogue reaches deep into the everyday human emotions that ordinary people feel, developing relationships along the way, that makes for characters that are very easy to become attached to. The ending, while not what the audience is rooting for, is a masterful commentary on the unpredictability and inconclusiveness of life. You can't go wrong with You Can Count on Me; it's worth the trip to the store. |
