Novalee Nation (Natalie Portman) is a small town girl dumped by her boyfriend in the middle of Oklahoma. The bad news for her is that she's homeless, penniless, and she is several months pregnant. Things do not stay too bad for Novalee though. She ends up having her baby in Walmart in the middle of the night and makes some very good friends along the way. This movie definately touches you emotionally and has some really great defining moments. One of the most touching moments comes right after the big storm when Novalee takes a picture of her daughter Americus in the wreckage that used to be her home. I have ranked this movie #56 out of the top 500 movies of all time. |
