This movie has me laughing every time I watch it (which has been many times). The animation is spectacular! The water, gold, and facial expressions were so true to life. It's so smooth and clear.
The story itself is excellent. It's one of those movies where you can sit back and laugh for an hour and a half. It leads these two unexpected heroes on the adventure of a lifetime. They have their dreams come true, but in the end have to decide what's more imortant to them. (...What will last forever and what will only be temperary... friendship or gold and glory.)
The characters themsleves seem down to earth humans. They aren't like many animated characters who seem perfect in every way, shape, and form. They make mistakes, have their flaws, and act like halfway normal people. (They even remind me of my friends and myself sometimes.) I love how the voice actors play off each other and how they really make the character come to life.
The music is also magnificent. Elton John and Tim Rice wrote five new songs for the movie. ("It's Tough to Be a God" is funny! Ha!) Also, Hans Zimmer and John Powell wrote some great score to go with it. Exciting, lively, and just plain fun.
As you may have noticed I've really enjoyed this movie. It's a great buddy movie, and it has both kid, teen, and adult humor in it. (Some things are a bit much for young kids, but over all it's all right for them... no more than any Disney movie.) --Oh, and on the mention of Disney, I must stress that this is a DREAMWORKS motion picture. Not a Disney movie. (Sorry, that can get to me sometimes.)
Overall, I absolutely recommend this movie to anyone interested in having a great time on a wild adventure in the New World with crazy characters, excellent music, nonstop laughter, and just plain fun! |
