I didn't like the first "Friday". The comedy just wasn't right to me. It felt like a poorly written blaxploitation movie of the 70's. When "Next Friday" came out I had no interest in seeing it, but changed my mind after seeing the pre-views. I'm glad I did! This movie had us screaming with laughter. I think the little Hispanic dude next door stole the show! The story was about Craig running to his uncle's house to hide out from some jail bird out to get him. His cousin, played by Mike Epps, tries to school him on how to act and how to stay out of trouble. Craig's family and the people he meet are crazier than the guy he's running from! His uncle's freaky girlfriend (or is it wife?) can't keep her hands off Craig, the Hispanic family has a crazy dog who chases and humps everything, there's Miss Kim, who looks Asian, but talks like a Black hood-rat! There's also the record store owner, Pinky. I can't describe Pinky. He's something you have to see to believe! This was the first time I had seen Mike Epps. That boy is nothin' but crazy! I've always been a fan of D.C. Curry, but for them to pair him with John Singleton was just too much funny in one place! I tried to buy the DVD, but ordered the 3rd Friday by mistake, which was a so-so movie that never captured the humor of this one. If you need a good laugh, get Next Friday! |
