Why don't critics appreciate this film?

CNN, E!Online, and even Roger Ebert did not like the remake of Planet of the Apes. Thanks to all of you who appreciate all of Tim Burton's films as much as I do, including this movie. I've never seen a Tim Burton film I din't like. But I wonder why Mark Wahlberg was chosen for the main role. That's not a mistake; he was great, but I would have expected someone else.

I'm only 13, so I didn't see the entire old version of Planet of the Apes, though I've seen a little bit of it. This new version was directed by Tim Burton, who directed it beautifuly. It's about a man(Mark Wahlberg) who works at a space station and goes off into space to find the escape pod that carries one of the test monkies named Semo, but the man gets lost and goes through a time portal, then crashes on a world run by apes who capture humans and torture them. Obviously, these apes rule the world. The man escapes with the help of a caring female ape, along with some other humans, including a woman who's father is killed by the head ape. Now the apes are after them. The greatest scene is at the end, when there's a huge war between the Native American-like humans and the apes. I only recognize the voice of one of these apes, who is the head ape's assistant, played by Michael Clark Duncan(who played John Coffee in The Green Mile).

I don't see why many people didn't like this film. It is a great Tim Burton film, along with the breath-taking special effects. Burton's latest film, Big Fish, was probably the best film he ever made, but I'm not so sure. I can't wait for his next project. But I'm still glad I saw Planet of the Apes. You will be, too.
