A Very Underestimated piece of work!!

Here are 10 reasons this movie is the best Disney movie ever made:
1) Underscoring: Not many people notice this, but whenever you see Frollo you hear the latin translation for "God have mercy" You hear the themes throughout the movie at the most appropriate times.
2) Songs: This movie is scored from beggining to end! There are at least 2 or 3 songs right after another. Plus its not awkward, unlike other Disney movies you get the feeling oh, here comes another song, it just flows. Plus find a more true/meaningful song than "God Help the Outcasts"!!
3) Characters: Quasimodo is soo sweet/ misunderstood. Esmeralda has the most amazing voice and extremely smart, witty, beautiful and has right morals. Phoebus is just plain cute and funny. Frollo is the most stunning villan work done on a Disney movie! He has the most stunning appearance, striking voice and looks like anyother person (not fantacy villan making). Djali the coolest pet ever, come on he's a goat! Clopan, coolest costume and quite the story teller.
4) Message: "Who is the monster and who is the man?" enough said!
5) Foreign: Takes place in Paris. This place really exsists which adds a bit of authenticity.
6) Religious: There is a huge amount of religious reference, hello! The main set is a Catholic Cathedral! Plus the character of Frollo is quite a traditional Catholic person, only those who believe what you do are right! (If your Catholic and frowning, back then is different than now!) Plus 99% of the background choir singing is in the traditional language of Latin.
7) Visuals: WOAH!!!!!!! This is the closest you will ever get to reality without 100% digital or shooting it physically. Plus if shot physically you wouldn't get that glow that went across the whole film.
8) Different: This movie didn't have a Princess a Prince or a castle. This is a very realistic story, with the exception of the singing gargoals. There's also a darkness to it, a darkness that when I was 6 I found it VERY intreguing.
9) The Whole Picture: For the visual's there was an authentisity to the whole look. For the story's there was a story that is so different and very exciting. For the fantacy's you have talking gargoles, Quasimodo climbed down the whole of Notre Dame, Esmeralda dissapeared 3 or 4 times, Court of Mirecoles (enough said). Kids, strong message, peril, a strong girl and a relatable character. Adults, the underlining story that kids don't pick up, the romance, the action. Music lovers, a full score in a few different languages and strong choir work. Everyone: A CLASSIC!
10) Classic: I first saw this movie when I was 5, it instantly became my favorite Disney movie. I actually could relate very much being a Catholic and surrounded by minorities (in the film gypsies) and having the Church being a safe haven with singing. I loved how this movie wasn't happy all the way through, Frollo was very much an appealing character to look at, how he was soo troubled and did soo many things that didn't make sense to a 5 year old. But now at age 16 I get the whole picture, it's so much deeper when you actually understand the song "Hell fire" and the relationship between Frollo and Esmeralda. The music is sooo classic and the underscoring is soo appropriate and deservers soo much recognition.
Please look at this movie as a pure classic and chereish it for what it really is! |
