Lon Chaney, better known as the "Man of a Thousand Faces" stars in the 1925 silent horror film, "The Phantom of the Opera." Based on the novel by Gaston Leroux, Chaney plays a mysterious, mad musician who terrorizes the Paris Opera House, but also falls in love with a young opera singer named Christine. This film was directed by Rupert Julian, and it also stars Mary Philbin, Norman Kerry, and Gibson Gowland. "The Phantom of the Opera" was one of the greatest horror classics of the silent era. |
