In a word, BEAUTIFUL. This is a finely accomplished film by the talent, that is Terrence Malick. Bearing in mind that he has only completed three films (DAYS OF HEAVEN and THE THIN RED LINE) Malick is a brilliant and provocative director, which has topped the list of my all time favourites. Badlands is a lyrical masterpiece which presents a different light on the 'roadkill' movie genre. It's plot is hardly original but its direction, visuals, score (music) and narrative are wholly orignal and majestic. Sissy Spacek and Martin Sheen a brilliant and with the successful direction of Malick this is an instant classic, which still has the power entertain you on a relaxing weekend evening. So just SIT BACK and ENJOY it. |
