This is a really good movie. I did not read any reviews before watching it so that it would be all new. It's a story about a young girl named Eve, who simply adores a Broadway actress named Margo Channing(Bette Davis). She is introduced to her by the playwrights wife. When Eve tells everyone her story Margo kind of takes her in like a lost little puppy. As the movie presses on we find our little sweet Eve is really a conieving woman who simply wants to be in the spotlight herself and will stop at nothing to do it.
The first thing that jumps out at you is the acting is simply steller as i was fooled by Eve. She seemed like June Cleaver. Bette Davis does a great job. although it may not be acting. I thought George Sanders was great as the womanizing gossip columnist. At one point in the movie he says to his date(played by Marilyn Monroe) "you have a point, an idiotic one but a point none the less". A great movie deserving of its ranking. |
