"Fasten your seatbelts, it's going to be a bumpy night" So proclaims a livid, smarmy Bette Davis in her finest role (The world is still scratching its head as to why she didn't win an Oscar for playing Margo Channing...were they crazy???!) And so goes this biting parade of backstabbing sharp tongued one liners, so many you've gotta watch the film about 10 times before some of them even register. The finest script ever handed to Hollywood actors, hands down! And "Eve, Eve, little Miss Evil" Herself, Anne Baxter, is at once demure and monstrously calculating throughout the picture. Everyone, and I mean everyone in this film lends something significant, important, memorable. Never before and seldom since has Hollywood exposed such a dark underbelly as this black comedy for the ages. You'll never be able to get enough, and if you love good drama, acting, direction and script combined, ALL ABOUT EVE has them all in spades. See it. Own it. |
