While not as thrilling or exciting as histwo last efforts before this film(Terminator, Aliens.)James Cameron still proves he is a good filmmaker and a good storyteller as well. Ed Harris and Mary Elizabeth Mastrantonio are well cast and play an estranged husband and wife who are sent by the navy to retrieve a nuclear warhead from a submarine that sinked nearby. As they go underwater they come across a life form not of this earth. The special effects are dazzling and still hold up well the story does sag a bit and becomes preachy as the aliens have something to say about mankind and how we are detroying ourselves but this is still an entertaining film. |
