This film was UNBEARABLE to watch! It`s not scary, but I could not get through the whole of it because it was so ridiculous and badly presented.
I heard this film was by the director of the film "The Others" and this made me want to see it. I was also attracted by the fact that Penelope Cruz was acting in this film. Penelope Cruz did a very good job of "Captain Corelli`s Mandolin" and "All The Pretty Horses". But in this film of "Open Your Eyes", her performance has gone RIGHT DOWN TO NOTHING! The acting of this film was pathetic, there is no effort in it whatsoever! If Penelope Cruz has done her job well in other films, she has done a bad job in this one!
The director of this film, Alejandro Amenabar, has done a bad job of this film. However, he did a very good job in "The Others", which is one of my favourite films. When I saw "The Others", I loved it so much that I bought it; this was a PERFECT FILM. However, "Open Your Eyes" does NOT have all the good things that came into "The Others".
When I saw the front cover of this film, it had a picture of a young woman shivering in the cold. This makes you think that the film is about realizing what kind of situation you might be in. Even though the front cover was eye-catching, it has not helped me to enjoy the film. In fact, I stopped watching when it was almost half-way through. |
