In this film we see the 1951 journey of Che Guevara and his friend across the beautiful lands of South America. Through the lands of Argentina, Chile, Peru, Columbia and Venezuela.
Overall I did not enjoy this film. The story seemed very slow and boring not to mention it tries to glorify a communist (Guevara). But what I did enjoy and what one should focus upon are the beautiful lands of South America which seem to never end for these adventures who trek over thousands of miles in their search of the true essence of being a Latin American during the mid 20th Century. Although we may not agree with their politics, (as Che later would support Castro), we should respect their bravery for taking such a journey so early in their lives. How many of us have dreamed and still dream of taking such a journey...they did.
So if you watch this movie, look at the people, the everyday people, the field workers, the urban dweller, the mechanic, the cooks, and poor. Look at them, see how they interact with the two adventurers. See what they see, hear what they hear, this is a true journey into society and nature. |
