Excellent movie despite glorifying a terrorist

If you ignore the historical (quasi-historical might be a better term) aspects of this film, it is excellent: acting, directing, editing, script.

As is often the case with foreign films, however, much is lost in the translation. To appreciate the movie's quality and full effect, it is almost indispensable to understand both South American culture and spoken Spanish with its "rich" jargon and swearing. (This is second-nature for me because I was born and raised in Peru to an Argentinian mother.)

This said, much like how Oliver Stone takes painful artistic licenses with history, this film glorifies a terrorist. If you didn't know any better, you'd think from the closing caption that the CIA unjustly killed a noble man, and that Mother Teresa and the Pope could have easily been next in the hit list.

There is nothing noble or redeeming about Fidel Castro's and Che Guevara's methods. A perception of social injustices does not justify terrorism. The man was a murderer who accomplished nothing worth glorifying.
