This movie tells the story of two families--black and white--during the 1960's. The Taylors are a black family led by Revend Willie Taylor living in Mississippi with his wife and son Emmitt. In Chicago the Hurley's--Mom and Dad, Katie a young rebellious daughter who gets pregnant ant runs away, Mike who joins SNCC and other revolutionary groups, and Brian who joins the Army to fight Vietnam. Throughout the movie they have great clips and the music is memorable. The only problem I have is that they focus too much on the Hurley's and you pretty much forget the Taylors at the end. Overall it's a great movie and it reminded me that the issues they were battling in the 60's we still have today (race, war, politics, etc.) |
