john travolta is amazing as usual, this time playing a "hot-shot" small-time lawyer, thinking he knows everything. it's not a great movie, but it's a good one. the ending was a little weird. i'm not sure how it worked exactly, but i was crocheting, so that could be why i don't know. anyways, it's tricky, lawyer stuff, ya know..? sad, but it's good. and james gandolfini didn't have THAT big of a part.. so i don't know why his name was up there. lol. robert duvall was pretty funny towards the end.. reminded me of myself--that unhealthy obsession with a baseball team, although his was boston, not chicago. lol. it's based on a true story, so it showed what happened in the real ending, ya know..? it was good. william h. macy was perfect. that guy.. man. they sell EVERYTHING to get to where they go in the movie for that one case. and macy is the guy for that. he's hilarious. this not a movie you must go out and see right now.. but it was still a good, touching one.
grade: B
good: it was funny at times. the story was a good one. and john travolta. plus, the way it's told is cool. at one point, travolta's character is telling how a meeting went down, and as he's telling you what happens, it's being back and forth, between the meeting that happend and travolta telling it. cool beans.
bad: it's sad. it's based on something true, so it's hard to think that something like that happened. :o( and his name was jan..?
recommendation: see it or don't. no big deal. but you'll probably like it if you do see it. |
