The first I heard of this movie was a clip featured in the horror classics compliation DVD entitled "Boogeymen". It played a brief clip, enough to spur my interest into leading me to rent, and recently purchase this.
While the movie does have it's flaw's, the monotone acting of the asylum's director coming most to my mind, the story is tightly written, focusing manly on Simon, played by Paolo Rotondo, and his eventual development into a serial killer, starting from his childhood. The basic premise is very "Silence of the Lambs" styled, most scenes being the interviews done by his new psychologist.
What it lacks in action and pizzazz, The Ugly makes up for with a well thought out story, and very good acting for a more independent film. |
