This is not a blockbuster, not a movie that everyone knows, not a movie that everyone can understand...
When I first watched it, I felt I'm gonna love it. Like a good rock-album that you've got to listen to a few times to understand how good it really is. You can watch "The Leading Man" just as an entertaining movie that has a good plot, good actors, nice picture...But if you wish, and if you can, you may look deeper, for example, see the reflection of the talk of Grange and Webb about what Americans and Englishmen think of good ends on the ending of the movie...You can compare the political points of view of the actors, and their charecters they play on stage...etc
Some people...many people can find themselves in the charecters. The plot is a banal story put into specific circamstances...It could have happened to anyone of us - watch out unfaithful husbands.
The movie is, in fact, about the odd things life can do to people, the twists of fate, the kinds of people...
...And like a good book - even if you don't like it, it teaches you things. Turn the brain on, or just have fun! |
