Robert Duvall at his best!
by Rye. (movies profile)
Feb 21, 2005
Written, produced and directed by veteran actor Robert Duvall, who will also be nominated by the Academy for his leading performance as Best Actor. With a slight touch of satire, director Duvall tells the tale of a runaway preacher who settles in a small town in Louisiana, as he vigorously includes himself in the life of the townspeople, to be the proven ‘Apostle’ he leads the timid folks into building a chapel as somewhat a sort of enlighten repentance for his past sins. This movie simply revolves around Robert Duvall, as he gives the audience one of his greatest performances in his long-lasting career, as this delivery was Jack Nicholson [As Good As It Gets-1997] greatest challenge for the leading Oscar, and although under-rated for it’s independent styled filming, The Apostle and Robert Duvall will always be recognized as one of the better movies and the best performance of the year. |
