In short: we hardly watch tv since there is so much junk on. Perhaps 8 hours a week. This movie captured us for 4 straight hours. As others have said: the visuals and acting takes a few minutes getting used to, but it makes the movie meorable and adds to the magic of it all. This is novel in that it does not rely on special effects but rather makes good use of it without making the movie reliant on it. The movie truly excels in that the story-telling is excellent, the outcome somewhat unexpected (Merlin is rather human, foolish and stuborn) and the 'angle' or point of view is from Merlin, rather than the 3rd party King Arthus movie. We loved it and think it is truly worthwhile.
