The movie is a remake/update - a bit different, but better version of Bruce Lee's The Chinese Connection. Even the portrait of the dead master is the same.
I think this is Jet Li's BEST movie. Best thing he's ever done, better than most fighting movies if not all of them. The coreography is excellent, theres no wires, it's straight foward hardcore fighting, the last scene being one on one for a straight 7 minutes!! Theres even a blindfolded fight and a fight where it's Jet VS a dojo and he takes them all out.
The Japanese and Chinese are feuding, Jet is Chinese going to a Japanese school. He returns to Bejeing upon hearing his skillful master was killed in a bout with a japanese master. Upon arriving he easily beats the tar out of the Japanese master knwoing his master would've done so as well.
So After a quick Autopsy they find out he was poisoned. After realizing this the film starts climbin with the Japanese confrotning the chinese school becasue of their masters death and they think Li did it. After a Japanese girl saves Jet from a court hearing he leaves the school to fight her uncle, and then soon follws is the epic final battle which is one of the best scenes ever...it is featured on the Ultimate Movie Fights DVD...
Recommend for any Martial Arts fan, anyone who likes well done scenery, it's one of the best fighting movies ever made! |
