Categorically the pole-fighting sequence between Jet Li and Donnie Yen in this film is enough for "Once Upon A Time In China II" to be regarded as one of the best of it's genre, given that it¡¦s packaged within, and greatly benefits from, director Tsui Hark's stylised presentation. (Unsurprisingly) the ploy is somewhat tepid, as the Lotus Clan and civil unrest scenarios are just hooks for which the two movie martial art heavyweights are given an excuse to strut their stuff. All in all though, a visually appealing movie, that is a good flag bearer for HK¡¦s better martial arts films at the turn of the 90¡¦s. |
