Historical Fiction
by Kaz (movies profile)
Mar 5, 2005
This movie is by far the best of the series, having a tighter plot than the first. One gets the feeling that there was more money and time spent on this project than the first, though the first one I really liked as well. The acting is very good, the martial arts is also very good, and the placement of historical figures is also good. The Chinese have a long tradition of historical martial arts fiction(Three Kingdoms is just one example)and its good to know that it can still be done right. Made in a time period before the hand over to the PRC, this HK film represents a time when film making talent preferred to stay in Hong Kong. |
