I was living in Sarasota, Florida when this movie came out in 1996; and since I was just 12 years old I was not allowed to see it. Eight years later I made it a point to be up one warm June night in 2004 to watch this movie on HBO. It was maybe one of the best movies I have ever seen. It leaves you feeling rewarded afterwards. Abuse is likely common at Reform Facilities as it is depicted. How could you forgive someone who raped and tortured you? All you would be able to think about would be revenge. It just so happens your two childhood friends can play a role in getting you acquitted of murdering the man who inflicted so much pain on you. I'm not standing up for murder, but I would have to say sometimes it is merited. Every member of the cast in this movie is great although it's weird to imagine Robert De Niro as a priest. Nonetheless, this movie was well worth the time I waited to see it.
Oh, and by the way referencing my title here is the equation: Good Story + Good Actors = Great Movie. |
