I enjoy watching movies by James Earl Jones and Robert Duvall, and was surprised to find out they shared a movie together.
The movie was attempted to be sold as a comedy/drama, but it is more of a drama. It is a movie that did not make a big splash, but went silently by to the video shelves. That being said, this movie has a solid story and superior acting. The premise is simple: Duvall realizes that his mother was a black woman, not the white mother he had grown up with. Adding to the plot is the fact that this takes place in the south, where racial tensions are still strong and where Duvall's character was somewhat of a racist himself. Duvall sets out on a trip to Chicago to meet his half-brother, played by James Earl Jones. In Chicago he will learn about his past and find out who he really is.
I really enjoyed this movie and it tackled some issues of our society. This movie would like to prove that we learn to hate, and we can to learn to not hate. |
