Guilty? Innocent? The question will keep you going from start to finish in this outstanding psychological thriller. The director adds in symbolic bits throughout the movie to entice viewers, including obvious and not so obvious references to the corruption of the Roman Catholic Church, (not that I am against the Roman Catholic Church at all, but that is what's in the movie,) Nathaniel Hawthorne, and corrupt politicians. The swearing in the movie is quite exessive, but you'll get over it. The acting is absolutely superb, Edward Norton steals every scene he is in, as the stuttering, accused Aaron Stampler. I personally believe that he should have recieved the Oscar he was nominated for from this film, but that's just me. Overall this movie is evocative and throroughly fasinating.
