Maturity finally comes to Hollywood

We are so accustomed to films as hyperbole. Exaggerated one way or the other for dramatic effect that boosts studio revenues. Explicit sex, unbridled cursing, endless car chases over bridges in rush hour traffic, feeble plot lines relying on implausible coincidence justifying unimaginable conclusions. After all, it's a business isn't it? It chould be foolish fun. However, once in a great while serious professionals produce mature work, setting aside profitability for high art.

Each cinematic element in Michael Clayton is artfully and professionally crafted from screenplay to dialogue to cinematography, not to mention the right-on-the-money acting. No one element outshines another. What pleasure is surely must have been for the collaborators. Egos have blended to produce a rare feast that goes far beyond one persons ability.
