I can only hope that the American Film Institute will soon release a "Most Unsurpassable Work Of Art That Transcends All Filmmaking" award. Simply put-- this film should have been on AFI's top 100 list, certainly in the top ten. In a ground-breaking performance, Matt LeBlanc assured his critics that his thespian triumph of the character "Joey" was no fluke. Through his relationship with a baseball-playing monkey, LeBlanc delivers a role that deals with man's most primal struggles. Director Bill Couturie's only mistake in making this film is that he leaves his audience asking, "Why is this Couturie's first and only film... and why does he leave us waiting for his next masterpiece?" |
