No happiness here, just a good psychological movie

12 monkeys is an example of how a movie does not have to be happy or pleasant to be good. It was a tough movie to really understand at first, but I tend to get a general impression of films before I try to dig through the details. So after about the third time I really began to realize what was happening.
Terry Gilliam is a talented director with a deep resume. His work is the most veratile I've seen from any director.
The reason I rated the visuals that way was because there was too much Bruce Willis backside in the beginning. Other than that, the post biological holocaust world was quite convincing. Brad Pitt's acting was really well done. He put alot of effort into that part and went the extra mile. It's really what helped him become one of the most multi-faceted actors. Bruce Willis proves he's not just an action hero, but a well-seasoned veteran of cinema.
The story was first-rate, too. Although there was no happy ending, there was plenty of character development and a little bit of intrigue at the end. |
