Smartest movie ever - with hidden Christ allegory

This in my opinion is the most intelligent movie ever made. The story line is very complicated, and I don't think someone can get it all after seeing the movie only once.
Firts, all time-traveling movies have story-line weaknesses. I found no weakness in this movie's time-traveling logic, and it may really well be the one and only movie about time-traveling that can resist a logics exam.
The moment where Dr. Railly finds out, looking at her historical pictures, that Cole is actually not insane and that he really is journeying through time trying to solve the spreading of an apocalyptic virus is incredibly powerful. Just imagine yourself in her place.
The movie ends on one of the most negative finales I've seen - you are brought to understand that the scientists in the future will never be able to save the world and that the whole movie is just one of their many attempts that repeatedely fail.
The movie is simply brilliant and mind-blowing.
But there is more... the story of this film hides a Christ allegory that very few people manage to notice. But look at this :
- The scientists represent God, sending an emissary in an attempt to save the world from death
- The emmissary's initials (James Cole) : JC
- Cole has a voice in his head, that would represent Satan while the Christ was in the desert
- Cole is recognized in the streets of the world he is sent in by a prophet, who would be St-John the Baptist
- Dr. Railly will become Cole's apostle
- (I'm not sure of this one): Cole falls in love with Dr. Railly, who happens to be played by actress Madeleine Stowe
I think this is absolutely awesome movie-making. |
