The best movie of 1995. A thrilling story of cops and robbers in Los Angeles. Robert De Niro is the robber, Pacino is the cop. They Could have changed roles and it would have been neerly the same. The supporting cast is also great, with Val Kilmer, Hank Azaria, Tom Sizemore, Jon Voight and many other A-list stars. De Niro plays a quiet man, while Pacino is noisy and yells most of his lines. All of the movies great one liners are from Pacino. The first heist, the bank robbery, and the final scene are perfectly done. Mann's direction is nearly perfect. It is difficult to put the movie in to any one genre, since it covers so many. The final chase between De Niro and Pacino is briliant. A must see, and one of the most under rated movies ever. How it avoided Oscar nominations is beyond me. **** |
