Deniro, Pacino, Kilmer, Sizemor, Judd. Incredible! Michael Mann knows how to represent the lifestyles of these characters. This great director (famous from Miami Vice) has been the governor over a masterpiece of movie making.
This is the kind of movie that has just the right amount of background-story mixed with the main story! You are able to become familiar with some of the characters as well as concentrate on the main items at hand. ........... Deniro is, arguably, at his best in this film. Pacino is also great, and I especially liked Val Kilmer! For me, his best 'look' is in this film (short hair or long hair). All actors and actresses show their best work, in my opinion, in this film. They all come through strong and powerful as their different characters. ............ I especially liked the fashion of this movie. Clothing-wise, some wore nice suits, some were sporty, some casual, some modern. The beach house was beautiful! ........... But mainly: The Heist scenes in this film make it a keeper! They are real professional, real convincing. The scenes are intense and not overdone. They are convincingly portrayed. The big bank-heist scene (and chase afterward) is possibly the BEST action scene to ever be in a movie!!! period! .............. Only the obsession of Deniro's character (eventually leading to his demise) made me dislike the story. But this is not a real critisism -- this is just the way the story goes. Regardless, the ending of the movie is a little more sad than I would have liked. ................ All actors were given the correct scripts, and directed perfectly! I found no probles with any of the characters, script or direction in this film. The camera work was also exceptional. Congrats on a great film! |
