Thats not really true, it got fantastic reviews, just no one knows about it 8 years later. I saw the trailer for this when I was probobly 9, and wanted to see it. Though I wasnt bright enough to under stand some of it, I still loved it. Then last year(Age 14) I read the book and loved it. The screenwriter hardly adapted it, the book is so similar to the movie that it could have the shooting script. Sadly, the best scene in the movie is absent from the book, that scene is when, Dennis Farina beets the ***** out of Gene Hackman, then tells a charactor named ronnie, "***** you, ***** ball." Damit, Yahoo will cut that, just rent this. The lead cast is fantastic, but the supporting cast is arguably better. It includes James Gandolfini, Delroy Lindo and Dennis Farina. Despite what some people think, this isnt one of the rip-offs that came in the wake of Pulp Fiction. In fact, Pulp Fiction owes something to this. Even though Shorty was made a year later and has the gangsters talking about stuff like dying in chairs, movies and small things like that, the book was written 5 years eariler. Quentin Tarantino is a big fan of Elmore Leonard, who wrote this and other books about gangsters, and they always make small talk like in Pulp fiction. This is a brilient dark comedy and a must see! **** |
