I first saw this movie when I was 21. It actually stopped me from hooking up one night in college! It made me terrified of my girlfriend (for about a week). One of the scariest films that I have seen. This film stayed with me for years.

Whether or not you like this story, the acting is phenominal. Unbeleivable for young unknown actors. Watching this movie almost made me forget that it was not real. While most kids are not like this, this was an accurate portrayal of kids growning up without proper guidance. What scared me the most about this film is the beginning. Even though most of my life was spent hanging around "normal" people, it shows that "normal" kids do come in contact with these scumbags (no offense Telly and Casper, the Dopest Ghost in Town). I would like to think that I am above these people and that they do not pose a threat to me. However, after seeing the beginning, I realized that I could unknowingly come in contact with them through others such as the girl in the beginning.

The thing that I found most disturbing is how realistic it was. From the dialog, to the actions, behavior, character interaction, and grittiness of the film itself. It took me back to high school and some of the people that I knew (and occasionally hung out with). While this does not represent your average mainstream child, it does represent a fringe group of children in almost any city / school. If you do not believe that children like this actually exist, watch the news. Chances are if you have children and are a good parent, you may not realize that these people actually exist.

Watch this movie with caution. It is not fun. There is no happy ending. It is dark, dreary, and at times slow moving. The subject matter is not something I like to see or think about. It is difficult to watch and recommend, however it is a masterpiece. Never before or since have I seen a movie with that hit so hard and seemed so real.
