I just finished watching "Kids" because I heard about it from some family members who only described the film as "ugly" so being me I had to see what was so ugly about it. I wish I were shocked. It's 2005 and I'm 15 years old. This film was made ten years ago and all I could think was some things never change. The similarities not just to urban teens but to rural teens also are almost so real it's eerie. It was refreshing for me to see a film so realistic in comparison to the lives of my peers and I. It was more entertaining than informative to me considering I see and hear vulgarity on a regular basis and I know everyone is having sex, giving it up, getting STDs, doing drugs, drinking and acting reckless. Finally a film that can be classified as art imitating life. Anyone who questions seeing don't hesitate. I guarentee despite your love or hatred of this film it'll grasp your soul and wander in your head. |
