Underscores the real dangers of the Internet

I liked this film in 1995 probably because at the time it came out I was quite interested in the web. That was a few years ago and what I have learned about free roving programs has more or less made me consider the web is a kind of soft weapon more than anything else. A program called Echelon records not only e-mails but also phone calls. That has been given power via the existance of the web whereas before the 1990s, it was on the fringes of society.I think the film underscores the real dangers of the Internet, as the web allows rare info to be accessed but it also allows all the annoying people you ever met in your life access to the same thing. A level playing field they would not have without the web. The web also provides an easy way to reconnect people who frequently do not wish to be reconnected, that is to say a person or family can move to avoid trouble in one specific area in the past and the web provides split second access back to any and all trouble zones and trouble people. The Net is a sophisticated film that is worth a second look for people who only saw it in 1995. I read once that the Internet was shelved due to security issues as an invention as early as 1969, in theform of the intranet, or inter office computer communicatons, within a business or institution.
