For those in the know, this is the most overlooked horror movie of the nineties. Refusing to be confined it blended genres, both disturbing and entertaining it's audience. Made by the maestro of macarbe Clive Barker (Hellraiser, Candy Man)this mythical plot set in modern times explores the entire spectrum of fantasy (the dark and the magic. "Slasher" flicks can't prepare you for a movie like this. Sorry kids, this movie's only for the hard core horror addict. Some one who can make the journey with Clive Barker through the caverns of that sadistic cult somewhere in the South West. Some one who is strong enough to hang around until a love stronger than evil is shown. Like that belonging to Harry D'Amour and the bride of Swann.
I rate this movie an enthusiastic A. Maybe you might disagree and maybe you still haven't seen this movie (don't feel bad, it wasn't hard to miss with a ridiculously obsolete ad campaign). I for one, eagerly awaited this movie as other's may have awaited LOTR or Star Wars or any other of this big budget blow outs. But I wasn't disappointed unlike some of you. If you watch this movie and still find it disaggreeable. I implore you to watch with audio commentary from director Clive Barker.
Until next time, happy haunts.
