Superb Human Comedy with deep Rootings

A superb comedy, with deep Rootings, about a charming small village. It has perfect timing, subtle wisdom, and sly clever humor.
"A prayer made manifest in soil" is a phrase from the hilarious Pastor's genuinely moving and motivational speech, bibically Christian, and yet as sly and outrageous as the best of Monty Python. The backdrop is 1917, a year of horrific trench-warfare slaughter in France, which constantly sobers the silliness of the humor. The deadpan, humble Hugh Grant is perfectly-cast. Music is great, visuals handsome.
Nobody loses if the old Welsh town wins. But if they FAIL, what lies to the downside involves their core sense of identity. You yearn for them to succeed, you intuitively know the whole community must come together for them to succeed, and then that's what happens. Enjoyable and satisfying!
