Brilliant Movie Based on a Novel

I liked reading the series of the short stories of W.P. Kinsella. It's primary focus is centered on the trials a tribulations of the residents on a Native Reservation. With a juxtapose of witty humour and serious issues that the novel featured, I thought that I would go for broke and watch the movie.AS it turns out, this movie is as equally successful as the novel.The humor and the serious stuff is amazingly accurate in terms of retelling the story about the events happening in the Reservation and the numerous problems that they face.
The actors all do a splendid jobs, especially Adam Beach is funny as Silas'(Ryan Black) friend Frank Fencepost. Michael Greyeyes pulls off an intense performance as the perpetually angersome Gooch. Ryan Black is at his best as Silas the mechanic who also has aspirations to become a lawyer and Jennifer Podemski is a delight to watch as ambitious Sadie Maracle. And those who I didn't mention they all turned in exceptional performances.
The music score was well-crafted in its selections, but NDN Kars by Keith Secola was the best of them all. Congratulations to Bruce McDonald for creating a brilliant movie that's just as powerful to watch as it is to read. The humour and the drama are at an equal here as neither genre outweighs the other. It was really an enjoyable obscure film, that it was worth the purchase when I bought it and that there's plenty to like about this little film. |
