Not fantastic, but worth seeing.

This is a rather difficult movie to review, because it's actually as misleading to refer to this as simple erotica as it is to call it a search for a murdered girl's body. This movie rather creatively blends scenes from an erotic dance club--and the emotionally desperate characters therein--with a search for a missing person. We not only see different aspects to people's characters, but the story actually unfolds and comes together in the end rather nicely (despite what other reviewers--especially ones who didn't watch the whole movie--have said here).
That's not to say this is a GREAT movie, because it isn't. The erotic dance scenes actually get pretty old, since they're always the same thing, and the scenes where they're looking for the missing girl's body--really, the heart of the movie, I think--could be expanded. Either that, or mix up the dancing scenes to keep them from getting stale. Regardless, this isn't either a top-notch erotic thriller, or a charged examination of the human condition (although it might be striving towards both), but it's still worth seeing. |
