This is one of my favorite movies. After watching it, I constantly find myself re-thinking the movie, and the intelligent way it presents the relationships between its characters.
The movie presents us with a complex relationship between a stripper and a tax auditor. Throughout the movie, the director leads us toward an explanation of this relationship, culminating in the final scene where the last piece of the puzzle falls into place. Along the way, the director Egoyan skillfully incorporates subplots and parallels that not only enhance the richness of the movie, but further explain the main relationship.
This isn't an action movie (nor erotica, as some other reviewers seemed to expect for some reason) but rather a thoughtful and fascinating exploration of human relations. |
